Google Introduces Real-time Search

It is every business’ dream to gain recognition with the king of all search engines – Google. Getting on the top page of Google is not only a crucial mission but it is also mission impossible. However, as of December 7, that has all changed! Now your dreams of being visible on major search engines like Google might yet come true.

Organic SEO has been one the most important key elements to increase web traffic and gain brand awareness. With Twitter, being known for real-time search, and Bing becoming mainstream by integrating Twitter in their results, Google has topped the charts when they introduced their real-time search.

Google real-time search updates instantly from many sources around the web.  This includes live tweets, news articles, web pages, and Yahoo Answers.  Thus giving Google a real time “data stream” that far surpasses the old “push technologies” of the past.

Partnering with Facebook and MySpace

But wait! It gets even better.  Google announced their partnership with both Facebook and Myspace to pull in data in real time.  For Facebook, this will include providing Google with a feed of updates from public profile pages, known as Facebook Pages or Facebook Fan Pages.  Facebook is already indexing all Facebook status on their own, so I am not sure if Google is paying big bucks for just the data. Uhmm!

According to a post by Jason Hirschhorn, Chief Product Officer, MySpace. “When searching Google, you’ll soon see live updates from MySpace users, as well as headlines from news and blog posts that have been published within seconds. All of these updates will be ranked to show the freshest, most relevant results related to what you’re looking for.” Therefore, when you search in Google for a particular topic, you will see MySpace users, real-time updates, photos, videos and content that is integrated with traditional search results.

I guess it was crucial for Google to master real-time search since Twitter has this concept on lock. But, Google plays hard when it come to relevant search results.  Are they introducing these features to stay ahead of the game or to make money from the data?  What do you think?
