Remember the book Men from Mars, Women from Venus? This 90’s bestseller guide reveals how men and women are different in their needs and behavior. Twenty-years later, this classic theory relates to Pinterest and Google+ gender split.
Based on research, women continue to dominate Pinterest. 80% of the pins are from high income females who enjoy sharing “what she loves to get her hands on”. Pinterest, a heavily photo driven site, allows her to pin for aspiration – from fashion wears to the home décor for her city loft.
So, if your product revolves around a female demographic than Pinterest may be the best social network.
On the other hand, Google+ is heavily favored by males; making up 70% of the users. These contributors are well educated with a technology background, like your programmers and engineers.
If you need to brand your software company or launch your mobile app than Google+ would be the best place to market.
With that being said, create gender based buyer persona for your social media efforts. Your marketing message will be real to them because it’s relevant.
